Why are You and Your Skin so Unique?

When it comes to YOU – and I’m sure you know this already – it’s clear that there’s only one of you in the world, with your unique look, talents, passions, and struggles. With regard to why your SKIN is so unique, I’ve got a straightforward answer.

Life isn’t always the same so why should your skin be!

There’s not a single person in the world that has the same ethical background, environmental and climate influence, DNA, exercise and diet routine or the same stress levels and lifestyle preferences as you have. Your skin is your unique imprint, ever-changing and one of a kind. In fact, it is among the most dynamic, everchanging organs of your body. Skin is continually evolving due to age, health, environment, climate, and habits including your diet and activities.

It’s a bit like you – sometimes happy – sometimes not and sometimes even naughty.

Besides, your skin is your body’s largest organ, as sophisticated and intelligent as your heart, lungs, liver, and other vital organs. And it’s the only organ that gives you a daily visual and sensory update of how it’s feeling. Learning to “read” your skin correctly and knowing your skin in depth and how it acts under what circumstances will really help you narrow down the selection of available, reliable and safe products for you.

I actually do examine my face every morning – it’s my trusted guide. I don’t do the same make-up or the same skincare every day because neither the appearance of my skin nor the look of my face is exactly the same every day. I do admit that I try to look my best, as most of us women want to. I really take care of my skin and follow a regular and specifically designed but very rewarding skincare routine. I took the time to learn and know all there is – about what my skin does and doesn’t want in anysituation.

I’m so passionate about skin because if taken care of properly it can indeed influence your state of mind – it’s that powerful!

As a successful Hollywood Make-Up Artist and Designer, I’ve spent the last 30 years of my life figuring out how to keep the skin in the most optimal and healthy state for my many celebrity clients in the movie and beauty industry, even between their jobs.

And I’ve learned early on in my career that the right product for one client whether it was a skincare or make-up product couldn’t only be wrong for another client but potentially hurt their skin in the process. And believe me, I’ve been there myself. Of course, I was very grateful to get all those lovely product gift packages sent to me by companies, which was very exciting, as I learned about new product developments, but it also taught me the hard way that I had to be especially careful which product to use on what client. Even as a professional make-up artist I saw the negative results of some of my product decisions and had to painstakingly find the steps to fix the issue.

From that viewpoint, it’s easy to understand how important it is to realize that your skin’s needs are likely to change over time, and taking steps to best identify its needs is essential for it to function and look it’s most beautiful. Staying connected  to the health of your skin and “checking in” regularly to determine whether any adjustments to your current skincare ritual are needed will keep it balanced and beautiful.

WHY ?

Because, yes, you and your skin are unique and your skin fits just you.

So, look at your skin as the whole living organism it is, not as a collection of concerns. It is important to know that when your skin is, for example, dry, oily, acne prone or you’re experiencing eczema, rosacea, perioral dermatitis or cystic acne or other concerns, it  just means your skin is out of balance. Even if you’re lucky enough to find skincare that miraculously had a combination of active ingredients, hydration, and texture that is perfect for you, it can quickly cease to work after a short time, since the characteristics and needs of your skin will be different in different situations, uniquely to you.

Like you, your skin is a tremendously complicated living and breathing entity that is constantly subject to change. It is interlaced with your outer and inner self. How could such an ever-changing wondrous organ be categorized in just any group?

So take advantage of this and listen to that one of a kind skin you’re in and what it’s telling you. Build up a relationship with it and live happily ever after. And don’t forget to stay informed and reassured of your beauty choices because there’s only this one skin that fits just you

Your future self will thank you !
